As root

 mount -t cifs -o username=ISISCNC/musr%passwd //musr/data /mnt/pier

equivalent to auto.misc entry, to appear as /misc/isismusr/

 isismusr -fstype=cifs,username=ISISCNC/musr%%passwd ://musr/data

Notice the double % sign!
For older Fedora 3 with cifs bugs, use

 mount -t cifs -o workgroup=isiscnc,username=musr%passwd //musr/data /mnt/pier

See back of cabin door for passwd.

This makes also the tmp files available. They are MUSRauto_A.tmp, ... , MUSRauto_E.tmp
They may be linked to mus00001.nxs, ... , mus00005.nxs and accessed as regular files

The old hardwired ftp in the Current file scheme does not work any more s to current data on MUSR by typing the following as current directory

Printer in MUSR cabin: is smb:///ndablagrave/R55-musr (sic! 3 slashes)

Attention for new ubuntu installations, make sure you have smbfs in addition to samba

To run synaptic from ISIS I have to

start VPN
set Preferences/Network proxy Manual to proxy.fis.unipr.it 8080 (system wide)

or else issue from a root window

  export http_proxy=http://proxy.fis.unipr.it:8080 
  apt-get update
