Publish on PyPI
+ latest 3.1.2 (keep updated)
- publish.yml atomatically publishes on TestPyPI when I commit and
git tag -a v3.x.y -m "Release v3.x.y" && git push v3.x.y; it also makes sure that Publish mujpy on github gets the latest artifact from TestPyPI
- must go to an activated mujpy venv and run
python -m pip install --index-url https://test.pypi.org/simple/ --extra-index-url https://pypi.org/simple/ mujpy==3.x.y
- test it thoroughly
- go to github mujpy project, click on top bat Actions -> Publish mujpy -> Run workflow
- Select branch master.
- Select destination pypi.
- The tag field is ignored for this destination: this job uses the fixed artifact containing 3.x.y
Clicking Run workflow will publish mujpy 3.x.y to public PyPI
Debug new checkout
past the latest release, try it first in a new venv:
python3 -m venv ~/.pip_mujpy
source ~/.pip_mujpy/bin/activate
python -m pip install -e ~/git/mujpy
done once. Just use this environment to launch a jupyter lab or nb when debugging, the edits in ~/git/mujpy are seen upon kernel restart.
to delete any unwanted venv and start afresh
to try it out volilà
cd ~/mujpy/mujpy-dev (a sandbox)
cp ~/.pip_mujpy/lib/python3.12/site-packages/mujpy/tests/Mudashed-demos.ipynb . or similar
export TMPDIR=/tmp
voila Mudashed-demos.ipynb

jupiterlab problems
- the first time on Lenovo
jupyterlab in PS would freeze the PS. AI suggested specifying localhost and port and --no-browser, to paste the token in the browser directly, to no avail.
- workaround: in cmd (admin) type
netsh winsock reset then reboot. It then works directly
Windows wsl helper
- use wiztree (in Download). Click Reload as Admin otherwise terribly slow. To find which files to clenup. Ask how to ChatGPT.
- clean Ubuntu shutdown before a win reboot (not strictly necessary)
- save notebooks, close jupyter, (no apt or pip unfinished!) then
sync && wsl.exe --shutdown, then win reboot
- see Docs for a wsl wise .vimec
- pass from win buffer to ubuntu vim paste shift-ctrl-c in PowerShell or whatever other win way, then in normal mode :r !powershell.exe -Command Get-Clipboard
- from visual vim selection to win buffer :w !clip.exe (<,>' appears after pressing : in visual mode) add to .vimrc as /y and /p
- installed Autohotkey, see C:\Users\derob08\Documents\Autohotkey\ITA-tilde.ahk, also shortcut in Startup, however
- does not work in admin powershell
#Requires AutoHotkey v2.0

wsl --install -d Ubuntu
@
Restart, strange, there is a linux folder but not an Ubuntu app
- again
wsl --install -d Ubuntu is now fine, 26.04
ls /mnt/c/Users/derob08/mujpy
- on PS \\wls\localhost\Ubuntu\home\derenzi** on Ubuntu
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y updates install
- on PowerShell/ubuntu click right on bar, select Quick Edit and CTRL SHIFT C V as cut and paste, also CTRL-, to open settings, set default on Ubuntu, set profile Ubuntu on aubergine terminal
sudo apt install python3-pip, python3-venv, python-is-python3, make a venv and activate
- strangely first attempt
python -m pip install --upgrade mujpy interrupted with error. Had to force a reinstall.
- works fine with mujpy root in ubuntu, fails (no backend actions, both) with root in win simlinked to ubuntu, fails qt (kernel crash) and works fine ipymple with root in windows and no symlink
- general bug: global fit does not generate editor from MN_text input!
- change looks: user (me) is invited to put value in function. Trapping works only if its first parameters
- perhaps alter list order p[k] Flag Function Value?, enlarge width of value, add background color?
- silent qt crash: Ubuntu is missing
sudo apt install libxcb-icccm4 other seven missing (already discovered with dual boot win, but I forgot!
- include in installation instructions for wsl windows
sudo apt update
sudo apt install python3-pip python3-venv python-is-python3 \
libxcb-icccm4 libxcb-image0 libxcb-keysyms1 libxcb-render-util0 \
libxcb-shape0 libxcb-xinerama0 libxcb-xkb1 libxkbcommon-x11-0
